The First

Tomorrow is September 1st already!  Can you believe it?!  Where has the summer gone?  The First is the day you can reserve tickets for Free Day at the Huntington Library in San Marino.   Tickets will be available starting at 9 a.m. tomorrow and most of the tickets are gone within minutes seconds.  Good luck!

The First is also the first day to register for programs and story times at Cerritos Library.

The First also happens to be the first Saturday of the month so that means it’s FREE day at the La Habra Children’s museum and the theme is It’s a Small World.  Scheduled events are a marionette show and puppet making crafts.  The museum will be closed for the rest of the month so enjoy it while you can.

The First also means that there’s a free Kids workshop at Home Depot.  Tomorrow your child can build a Goal Post Football Game.

Finally, the First is also the first day of the football season.  (I just put this in for all you dads out there but I guess I didn’t need to remind you.)

Whew!  That’s a lot of stuff!  Hope everyone has a great First and an even better Labor Day weekend!  Have fun!

Heritage Park Tot Lot vacancy

Update (October 10, 2012): HPTL still has two vacancies in the 4 year old age group.

The Heritage Park Tot Lot is a co-op preschool, which means that it is run by parents.  One of the most frequently asked questions is if there is a teacher and the answer is YES.  I have had the privilege to see all the work that goes on behind the scenes of this preschool and I have so much respect for the parents that have made this program a success.  Usually, there is a wait list for this program that goes a year back.   Amazingly, this year there are 2 vacancies in the 4-5 year old group.  This is a rare opportunity so jump on it if you’re looking for a great preschool.  For additional information, please see the flyer below and/or my earlier blog entry.

Hudson Sample Sale

Since I’ve become a stay at home mom, my one wardrobe staple are my jeans.  I always balked at the idea of paying hundred’s of dollars for those “premium” brands, but boy, once I tried them, I was hooked!  Still, I’m not shelling out all that money for jeans.  Well, here’s the best of both worlds–buy premium jeans at their sample sale!  I love me some Hudson jeans.  They are super comfortable with a great fit but they usually retail for $200!  At the last sale I went to, the seconds were $40 and regular production was $60.  By seconds, it means there are slight imperfections and/or irregularities.  I picked up 3 pairs of seconds for the price of one at full price and I love them.  I never noticed the difference.  You do have to know your size and fit though because you cannot try anything on so stop by Nordstrom and try on a couple of pairs before you go.

$1 Jamba Juice

When it’s already 85 degrees at 9:00 in the morning, who doesn’t want a cold “healthy” smoothie especially when it’s a buck?!   We went last week and they didn’t limit us to one so we were able to get one for each of us.  Also, if the 16 oz size isn’t big enough for you, you can get the bigger sizes for $2 or $3.  The line can be a bit long, but at least you are sitting in an air conditioned room.  I know it’s valid at the Cerritos location but to confirm other participating locations, click here.
