Preschool Fair

MOMS Club of Lakewood, CA (MOMS) is hosting its 2nd annual Preschool Fair on Saturday, May 30, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Youth Center at Del Valle park (4658 Woodruff Ave., Lakewood, CA 90713).

Free and open to the public, the fair is a community event that offers parents a forum to receive information about area preschools, ask questions of school representatives, and sign up for tours. Summer camps and educational programs also will be featured, along with various community services and vendors. Kids will enjoy entertainment and crafts, including parachute play sponsored by Gymboree of Long Beach.

MOMS Club of Lakewood recognizes that once you have decided your child is ready, choosing the right preschool can seem daunting. It is important to weigh each aspect of the preschool and make a decision that is good for you and your child. MOMS Club of Lakewood hopes that this fair will assist families in understanding their options, in what is known as the first step in a child’s academic journey.

Last year’s event on May 26, 2012 – the first preschool fair of its kind to be held in the Greater Lakewood Area — was hugely successful with 13 schools represented and more than 150 patrons. This year, the MOMS Club of Lakewood is expanding the event. We expect approximately 20 schools and 10 summer camps, educational programs, and community services to participate. Some of the many schools attending include: ABC Parent Participation Preschool/Adult Education, Bellflower United Methodist Preschool, Bethany Lutheran School, Edgewater Preschool, Gaines Head Start, Grace Christian Schools, Gymboree of Long Beach, KinderCare, Lakewood Christian Schools, Lakewood Village Community Church Nursery School, LBCC Child Development Center and Lab Schools, Long Beach Christian Day Care Center, New Life Preschool and Kindergarten, Parkcrest Early Childhood School, Preschoolers and Parents Learning Together and Practical Parent Talk, Tutor Time, and Valley Christian Schools. The following summer and educational programs also will be represented: Academic Learning and Languages, Averyboo, Challenger Sports, City of Bellflower, City of Lakewood, El Dorado Nature Center, Iacoboni and Nye Libraries, Kick It Up, and Readwrite Educational Solutions.

Event sponsorships are always needed and appreciated, given that MOMS Club of Lakewood is a local non-profit organization that serves mothers with little funding. Proceeds from vendors participating in this year’s event will be donated to Children Today (www.childrentoday.org), a local charity that provides community-based services to children and families experiencing homelessness. Thank you to our current sponsors, Gymboree of Long Beach and We-Tee’s.
